Can BetContest be used to organize a season-long contest?

Yes. It’s easy to use BetContest to play with your friends in a season long contest. Simply create a Contest, invite your friends, and challenge them to Contests based on games and metrics that are the most fun. You can follow along with the standings in your Contest leaderboard. The Host and Participants can determine how many places in the Contest can earn prizes of their choosing.

Is there a limit on the amount of entries I can submit?

Yes, each Contest has a maximum entry count per Participant of 1 entry. The Participant limit count for each Contest is determined by the Host and their fellow Participants. Hosts can add an unlimited number of Participants per Contest. Participants can enter multiple Contests and are still capped at 1 entry per Contest.

How do I create a Contest?

Here are the steps to create a Contest:

• Login to your BetContest account

• Click on the Play Now tab

• On the top, click on Host

• Click on which sport you would like your Contest to be based on

• Choose which time period you would like your Contest to run

• Choose which wager options you would like for your Contest (Spread, Moneyline, Total or a combination thereof)

• Choose which games Participants in the Contest can wager on (or Select All for the selected timeframe)

• You can choose to email or text friends the invite to join your Contest

• The Host will have immediate availability to play in the Contest, while all other Participants must download the app and use the Entry Code for the Contest that was sent by the Host

• All of the Participants that want to join the Contest will have to use that Entry Code and enter it into the app after they have created a BetContest account.

• The Host will have to approve the Participants once they’ve used the Entry Code. The Host will go to the Play Now tab towards the middle of the page and view their Hosted Contests. Find the Hosted Contest, click Manage. View your Join Requests. Click Accept.

How do I participate in a Contest if I’ve been invited?

Here are the steps to be a Participant in a Contest (if you do not have a BetContest Account):

• Go to the Apple App Store or the Android Play Store and search “BetContest”

• Download the app on your mobile device. BetContest does not currently run on desktop devices.

• Once the app is loaded, click either sign up with email or sign up with Facebook.

• Enter your email, username and password

• Choose your favorite sports

• Enter your phone number

• Use the code that was emailed, texted or sent to you and enter it on the Play Now tab in the box towards the top that says Join Using Game Code

• After you enter the Gamecode a notification will be sent back to the Host to approve you as a Participant. Please follow up with your Host if you are not approved in a timely manner.

How does a Host manage a Contest?

Here are the steps to be a Participant in a Contest (if you do not have a BetContest Account):

• After a Host creates a Contest (see How do I create a Contest in FAQs), they are commissioner of that Contest.

• The Host will need to send out invites to all of the Participants. Invites can be initially sent at the end of the Contest creation process or afterwards.

• The Host can either send out the invite via text or email when creating the Contest. If they choose to invite contests after the creation, the Host should go to the Play Now tab. Scroll down to Hosted Contests. In Hosted Contests, find the Contest you are referencing and click Manage. Under Participants click Add. Choose either email or text message and the phone number or email you want to send the Game Code to.

• If the Host scrolls down to the bottom of the Hosted Contest screen, the Game Code for the Contest is there. The Host can give this code to any Participant they wish.

• The Host can accept a Participant’s request to join the Contest (using the Game Code) in either the Notifications tab or in the Play Now tab under Hosted Contests (click Manage and click the check mark next to the Participant’s name).

• Contests can have an unlimited number of Participants.

• The Rankings for the Contest are shown below the Participants.

• A Host can remove a Participant by clicking the “X” to the right hand side of their name in the Participants list. All removed Participants are out of the Contest and ineligible to have their participation renewed in that Contest.

• The Host is also able to send a Broadcasted Message to all the Participants in the Contest. The Host will need to type out the message and click Broadcast. The broadcasted message can be seen by all current Participants of the Contest under their Notifications tab.

• The Host has the ability to add more games to an already created Contest. This should be done after conferring with all the Participants first. Adding more games to a Contest that was already set is frowned upon and should only be used in certain instances. The premise of BetContest is to amass the most contest dollars in a predetermined amount of time. Changing or altering a Contest after all the Participants have agreed on the timeframe fundamentally alters that Contest.

How do I change my User Info?

•        Click on the Account tab on the bottom of the main page.

•        Click User Info

•        A Host or Participant can change all of their information except their email address.

What are the Rules and Scoring of BetContest?

I don’t see my Contest in the My Contests tab, what should I do?

• Once you click on the My Contests tab on the bottom of the main page, you will have 3 tabs to choose from on the top of the My Contests page.

• Click on the Upcoming tab on the top of the My Contests page. Your contest should be located there.

How do I win money or prizes?

BetContest does not take or handle money on any Contests. BetContest is a fun way to determine the better sports handicapper amongst friends. Any prizes, funds, money or other forms of consideration is outside of the purview of BetContest and is at the discretion of the Host and Participants.

When are wagering lines published for each game?

• For NFL Contests, point spreads, moneylines and totals will be published by 12:00pm EST on each Tuesday during the Contest timeframe. All wagers must be made prior to the start of any game in the Contest. Please do not wait until the last second to make your wagers, as the game may lock a minute or two prior to the game start.

Why are the wagering lines static for each Contest?

Currently, BetContest does not offer dynamic wagering lines in our Contests. This is a feature that we are considering and may rollout in future builds. All our lines are provided by My Sports Feeds. Once a line appears via our API at the stated publishing times listed, it static.
